The Revenant (2015)
Filmed on location in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, this winner of three Academy Awards tells the story of Hugh Glass, a fur trapper from Missouri who embarks on a mission of vengeance after being left for dead by his cohorts in the wake of a bear attack. Glass was one of a few thousand mountain men in the early 1800s who lived in the Rockies trapping and trading fur on their own and for businesses, including that of famed millionaire John Jacob Astor (who expanded his business west under the advice of Glass).
