I just returned from a short visit to the Four Seasons Bora Bora and now understand why so many say this destination is a once in a lifetime experience. I know that many of my clients dread the idea of long flights, but in this case, it is well worth it!
Tahiti is made up of over a 100 islands but Bora Bora is a destination set apart due to its unique character and sheer beauty. The pictures you may have seen just can’t compare to what you see and experience personally.
Getting there!
Getting to Tahiti is pretty simple. There are daily nonstop flights from Los Angeles serviced by Air Tahiti Nui. It takes about eight hours to reach the capital, Papeete. Then, we connected on to Bora Bora aboard a small turbo prop plane for a short 40-minute flight to a simple airport strip. We collected our bags and were met by a friendly hotel representative who escorted us by water taxi across a beautiful turquoise lagoon to the hotel (there are no connecting roads).

er a quick 15-minute ride on a private Four Seasons luxury boat (seats up to 12 guests) we arrived to a team of smiling staff with fresh towels and a welcome drink to what would be our paradise for the next few days.
Over the Water Bungalows at Four Seasons
I was quickly taken to my bungalow over the water. Nearly every property in Bora Bora has over the water bungalows but Four Seasons Bora Bora boasts that theirs are the ultimate in modern luxury and comfort while keeping the charm of the island with thatched roofs.
My bungalow had a magnificent view of the lagoon and mountain the in background. No wonder many guests rarely leave their bungalows and simply order room service! This is by far one of the most beautiful and sought after destinations for honeymooners or couples celebrating anniversaries or milestone birthdays. It can also be perfect for families looking to get away from their hectic life back home.
The Four Seasons Bora Bora hotel has a large relaxing pool and a wide private beachfront for when you to leave your over the water bungalow. They also have with many restaurants and bars for mingling with other guests or to enjoy some local entertainment in the evening. There is also an award winning spa, tennis courts, and a lagoon for swimming. It’s a great spot for those wanting to learn to snorkel with all sorts of coral and tropical fish to see.

Four Seasons Bora Bora is family-friendly with bungalows and villas that have connecting rooms. There is also a daily kids program filled with activities to keep them busy during the day.
As for adult activities, there is no shortage of water toys to enjoy! I had to pleasure of jet skiing all around the island in the lagoon area where the waters are almost always calm, shallow and very safe. My very favourite activity at Four Seasons Bora Bora was a day trip for snorkeling in a protected coral reef filled with thousands of various tropical fish and stingrays. The highlight though was getting to swim with black tip sharks in the open (click to view video on left). Now THAT was an incredible experience! Never once was there any feeling of fear since the area has been considered safe since people first started visiting.

Conclusion
Four Seasons Bora Bora has definitely hit a home run and in my opinion, it just might be the most beautiful resort destination in their portfolio. Since it is such a popular destination, there is really no “slow season” and the weather is fairly stable year round. From romance to adventure, Bora Bora and the Tahitian islands won’t ever disappoint you. My advice? Add this one to your bucket list!
