My wife and I recently returned to the lush island of Saint Lucia. No wonder Saint Lucia is a delight to vacationers seeking a more authentic Caribbean experience.
Romance at it’s Best at Saint Lucia
Our private driver met us at the airport who safely transferred us to our first hotel, Rondezvous. Be prepared for a bit of a windy one and a half hour but scenic drive to get up to the capital city of Castries where our resort is situated. There is a local airport used for inter island flights that is only a short 5 minute drive for those who might prefer to be transferred by helicopter.
Rondezvous is a small 100 room boutique all inclusive adult only resort located directly on a long stretch of beach that is ideal for couples looking for a more quiet vacation. They really want you to focus on communication with your significant other and lots of relaxation.
Our room or should I say cottage was 10 steps from the beach. Rooms are newly renovated so we felt very comfortable to say the least. This was my first resort without a TV in my room so that took some getting used to. Luckily I did bring my iPad and with Free WiFi throughout the resort, I was able to stay connected. The staff are always looking out for you and have a genuine smile each time you pass them. The Saint Lucian hospitality really stands out here which makes this island a favourite for returning British and North American tourists.
Saint Lucia features Wellness Spa Experiences
Our next stop was 20 minutes by car up the coast line to a sister property called The Body Holiday. This resort is different. Same friendly hospitality and also all inclusive, but here they focus more on wellness making you feel like you are on a retreat. Our room was up on the fourth floor (yes there is an elevator) with a lovely view of the ocean. Very comfortable bed and the spa shower with multiple heads was an pleasant surprise.
Where The Body Holiday shines is in all the first class activities available for you. From early in the morning to late in the evening, there are various activities to participate in (most are included) each hour. Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, golf & tennis lessons are just a small sampling of what is available to the vacationer. They have an award winning Spa that is another major reason people come to this resort with one complimentary spa treatment per guest included daily. I also very much enjoyed the wide selection of healthy and delicious food during meals. Their health juice and wrap bar was a huge hit mid day.
My wife really loved attending the various dance classes with professional choreographers from popular television shows while I was trying to learn a couple of new golf tips given by the local pro on staff. This is an especially great resort for single and ladies week long getaways. Their motto is “give us your body for a week and we will give you back your mind” so if you are looking to regenerate yourself this resort is unlike any other out there.
Our last visit was pretty much next door with a vastly contrasting experience. Cap Maison is a virtuoso five star property with just under 50 rooms starting off at a generous junior suite. Cap Maison is great for travelers looking for an upscale experience instead of the traditional all inclusive option. Here is where your room is your home away from home and you create your own personalized experience. The staff message of creating a feeling of being home is best demonstrated upon arrival. Imagine helping yourself to a cold drink of your choice in the library or picking out your favourite bottle of wine from their gift boutique all on the honor system without having to pull out a credit card to get in the door.
Hospitality on an entirely new level. Cap Maison has one of the highest rated restaurants on the island. Rooms present a unique atmosphere through the use of intricate hand painted porcelain tiling to bring out that distinctive Spanish feel, while the deep rich wood accents certainly add that welcoming warm Caribbean flavour. Nestle yourself in bed at night tucked under a large cozy net draped over your bed to feel safe and secure. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to couples and honeymooners who can enjoy plenty of quiet time or a dip in their own private pools or outdoor showers.

Saint Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Saint Lucia’s people, the dining experiences, beautiful beaches, lush surroundings and great weather combine to make this a perfect travel destination for everyone. The three properties we visited are truly wonderful and unique in their own way. Whether you are a young honeymoon couple or a business professional looking to relax and recharge yourself, Saint Lucia is a sun destination that won’t disappoint you.
