When you’re headed for an upscale vacation steeped in the finer things in life, there’s no doubt that you’ve thought once or twice about the right attire to bring along. While having appropriate clothing is a must no matter what you do — ladies, don’t overlook the importance of the right swimwear for your luxury vacation! So many of Dean’s clients have asked for advice about appropriate swimwear that it was only a matter of time before we compiled some tips. When it comes to women’s swimwear for luxury travel, here are the things to keep in mind.
Comfort is key
While wearing the most dowdy swimsuit at the pool is not a way to make a splash, there’s always something to be said for feeling good about what you’re wearing. Mind you, that doesn’t have to mean investing in designer brands. If you have that swimsuit that always makes you feel comfortable and attractive, don’t refrain from packing it just because it’s not brand-name. Classic, solid-colored suits won’t tend to go out of style, so they’re always a good bet. As a general rule, wear darker solids with less-tanned skin, and save the pastels for those with a good tan.
Be it with your swimwear, outerwear or anything you bring along on your luxury vacation, comfort should tend to trump high fashion. While it’s true that fashionable places like Milan or Paris may make you regret that pair of walking shoes over a pair of heels, your body will thank you for choosing the sensible option!
Bring more than one swimwear!
That first tip being said, it always helps to have a backup suit that you can use when the other gets wet, torn, or otherwise damaged. Plus, it gives you an excuse to go out and find another suit before your trip — following tip #1 of course.
Designer swimwear are built to last — but will you need it that long?
Then again, it may be that the designer suit you bought IS the one that makes you feel most comfortable… and that can be a good thing too. When you invest in quality swimwear, it’s more likely to last through your next several luxury vacations.
